Students in the Purple Pod Mrs. Decibus Science class have been studying magnetism, electricity, and electromagnets. Their final project of the unit was to design and build an electromagnetic fishing pole and participate in a fishing derby where they fished for “paperclip” fish. Their fishing pole had to have a switch and an electromagnet. To get to this point, students had to determine three variables that they were going to test to create the best fishing pole they could. Students had one swipe over the pile of magnets to see how many they could attract. Pictured here is the winner of the derby with Mrs. O’Bryant.
