7th & 8th Grade Annual Food Drive

The 7th & 8th grade band will be holding its 13th annual canned food drive from November 9th through November 19th. All non-perishable food items will be accepted; including any canned or jarred item, rice, pasta, stuffing, baby food, pet food, baking items, paper towels, diapers, and anything else that will not spoil. Last year we collected 800 pounds of food; let’s see if we can beat that total this year. Everything that is collected will go towards the SMS Food Pantry.
The food that is collected is available to ConVal School District families that are in need of food for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We are looking for nutritious items like soup, canned vegetables, tuna fish, pasta, tomato sauce, and beans. We also need Thanksgiving items like stuffing, gravy, and cranberry sauce. In addition to the items brought in from the food drive, families will be getting a turkey and some fresh vegetables that the State Food Bank provides.
The class that brings in the most amount of food will win a trophy that will be passed from class to class each year. SMS is a Caring, Cooperative, & Respectful community of students and staff that want to help for the greater good of our entire ConVal community. In the end, this is not about winning a trophy, it is about giving back to your community. Thank You!
