2017 Fall Sport Try Out Information

 

Try outs for the South Meadow School boys and girls soccer teams, girls field
hockey, boys and girls cross country, and girls club volleyball teams will begin
August 31st, right after school at 2:30. Any 6 th , 7 th or 8 th grade student is eligible to
play any sport. Boy and girl 5 th grade students may try out for cross-country only.
Try out times are 2:30 to 4:00PM. Mr. Silegy will meet with the student- athletes
and go over important information when school begins August 31st in the gym. All
students trying out should report to the gym right after school on the 31st. Try outs
will continue after school until the respective coaches are ready to make their
teams. Communication will be sent home from the coach. Athletes will meet their
coaches in the gym on the first day of school. All players should bring water bottles,
shin guards for soccer and field hockey, mouth guards for all sports except cross
country and volleyball, proper footwear and clothing. Field Hockey players should
bring a field hockey stick and protective eye wear. If any athlete is missing any
piece of equipment please come to try outs anyway. Mr. Silegy will help you.

All  cross country, soccer, field hockey, and volleyball athletes must bring with them at try outs the attached parent permission form and an updated pre-participation physical evaluation.  (Forms also available at SMS Front Office.)  Updated means that your son or daughter has had a updated physical within the last two years.  For example:  If you son/daughter had a physical as a sixth grader he/she would need an updated physical as an eighth grader.  THE UPDATED PHYSICAL MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE THE FIRST GAME, BUT PREFERABLY BEFORE  YOUR SON/DAUGHTER  TRYS OUT.  Please do not wait until the last minute.
